1 Scafell Pike 978m

Scafell Pike is the highest mountain in the Southern fells and is the highest of all the 214 Wainwrights. Scafell Pike is in fact the highest mountain in all of England and is widely considered the most popular mountain in England, it is part of the Scafell massif in the Lake District and is an extinct volcano. Scafell Pike has many different routes to the summit many of them including other wainwrights.
2 Scafell 964m

Scafell also spelled Sca Fell, is the second Highest peak in the southern fells and the 2nd highest of all the wainwrights. Sca Fell is located just next to its parent peak Scafell Pike connected via Mickledore col. Scafell is a lot less popular than Scafell Pike and has much fewer walking routes to its summit. Although Neighbors with Scafell Pike, Scafell is most easily summited from Hard Knott pass as a pose to Wasdale (If doing this indvidual peak)


3 Great End 910m

Great End is the 3rth highest of the southern fells and is the 5th highest wainwright. Its is the most northerly mountain on the Scafell Massif, consisting of Great End, Scafell Pike and Scafell. Great End has an impressive north face which is popular among climbers, and below the north face of great end is sprinkling tarn. Around the tarn is a good location for wild campers.
4 Bowfell 902m

Bowfell is the 4th highest peak in the southern fells and is the 6th highest in a the wainwrights in the Lake District. Bowfell has an iconic pyramid shaped summit and offers great views over to the Scafell Massif when on its peak. Bowfell is one of the more popular wainwright in the Lake District and has walking routes to the summit in all directions.


5 Esk Pike 885m

Esk Pike is the 5th highest peak within the southern fells and the 11th highest mountain in all 214 of the wainwrights. Esk Pike lies at the head of Esk Dale and the summit is very close to its neighbouring parent peak, Bowfell. Esk Pike and Bowfell are usually both summited in the same walk due to short distance from one another.
6 Crinkle Crags 859m

Crinkle Crags is the 6th highest of the southern wainwrights and the 17th highest in all 214 of the Lakeland wainwrights. The Crinkle crags are formed of 5 rugged peaks Long Top being highest and the wainwright peak. The crinkle crags forms part of two major rings of mountains, surrounding the valleys of Great Langdale and Upper Eskdale. The name Crinkle crags comes from its iconic look.


7 Lingmell 807m

​Lingmell the 7th highest of the southern fells and is the 29th highest wainwright. Lingemell is located just underneath the tallest peak Scafell Pike Towards the north west side. Lingmell towers over Wasdale and when doing the wainwrights is usually completed when summiting scafell pike. Lingmell is inassisible on its north and east side and can only be hiked via a gentle grassy sloped which connects onto Scafell Pike.
8 Coniston Old Man 803m

The Old Man of Coniston is the 8th highest of the southern fells and ranked 31st in all 214 wainwrights. Coniston Old Man toweres above the Conistion Village and Lake Coniston. The mountain is popular with tourists and fell-walkers with a number of well-marked paths to the summit. The mountain has also had a rich history of copper and slate mining activity and the remains of abandoned mines are scattered around the north-east slopes.


9 Swirl How 802m

Swirl How is the 9th highest peak in the southern fells and the 33rd highest summit in all of the 214 wainwrights. Swirl how stands in the Coniston range in between Coniston and the Duddon Valley. Swirl How is almost the same height as Coniston Old Man and follows as a close second in height within the Coniston range.
10 Brim Fell 796m

Brim Fell is the 10th highest of the southern fells and is the 37th highest in all 214 of the wainwrights. Brim Fell is part of the Coniston fells which are located above Coniston village. Brim Fell is the closest to Old Man of Coniston the highest peak in its range.


11 Great Carrs 785m

Great Carrs is the 11th highest Wainwright in the southern fells and the 42nd highest in all 214 Wainwrights. Great Carrs is part of the Coniston range and it towers above Wrynose pass. Great Carrs is the northern most Wainwright of all 8 Conistion fells.
12 Allen Crags 785m

Allen Crags is the 12th highest wainwright in the southern fells, and the 43rd highest wainwright in the Lake District. Allen crags in formed at the head of a ridge situated underneath Great End, Due to its location it is rarely summited on its own.


13 Glaramara 783m

Glaramara is the 13th highest wainwright in the southern fells and the 45th highest of all the wainwrights. Glaramara is Situated in the middle of three wainwrights on a ridge just south of Seathwaite. These other wainwrights are rosthwaite Fell and Allen Crags, The ridge is a fine walk to complete all 3 wainwrights.
14 Dow Crag 778m

Dow Crag is the 14th highest of all the Southern fells and the 48th highest of all the wainwrights. Dow crag is located on the west of the Coniston range and is usually summited first or last if doing all 8 peaks. The eastern face of Dow Crag is very popular amongst climbers in the Lake District.


15 Grey Friar 773m

Grey Friar is the 15th highest fell in the southern wainwrights and the 50th highest in all the Lake District Wainwrights. Grey Friars is located in the north west of the Coniston fells. Grey Friars is the least popular fell out of all 8 of the Coniston fells due to its location.
16 Wetherlam 763m

Wetherlam is the 16th highest peak in the southern fells and the 55th hgighest Wainwright. Wetherlam is located within the Consiton fells, it is the most northernly and the smallest of all 8. This wainwright is usually summited first or last when doing a walk containing all the Conistion fells.


17 Slight Side 762m

Slight Side is the 17th highest peak in the southern fells and the 58th highest peak of all the wainwrights. Slight Side is situated at the south western edge of the the Scafell Massif nearest to Scafell the second highest wainwright. Slight side is normally summited with other fells in the Scafell Massif.
18 Pike of Blisco 705m

Pike of Blisco is the 18th highest peak in the southern wainwright and the 86th highest of all the wainwrights. Pike of Blisco is located between the valleys of Great Langdale and Little Langdale. This wainwright is usually completed with its neighbouring peaks, Cold pike and Crinkle Crags.


19 Cold Pike 701m

Cold Pike is the 19th highest fell in the southern wainwrights and the 88th highest of all the wainwright. Cold pike is located above the Duddon valley inbetween the wainwrights, Pike of Blisco and Crinkle Crags. Usually Cold pike is summitted alongside these two wainwrights.
20 Harter Fell 654m

Harter Fell is the 20th highest wainwright in the southern fells and the 111th of all the wainwrights in the Lake District. Harter fell is a very rural fell located in-between Eskdale and Duddon valley. Access to this fell is usually along the notorious road, Hard Knott pass.


21 Rossett Pike 651m

Rossett Pike is the 21st highest peak in the southern fells and the 115th highest of all the wainwrights. Rossett Pike is situated at the head of Mickleden. This wainwright is a gateway to the surrounding towering fells including the Scafell massif.
22 Illgill Head 609m

Illgill Head is the 22nd highest wainwright of all the southern fells and 128th highest of all the wainwrights. Illgill Head is located on the south eastern shore of Wast water. There is one other wainwright along this ridgeline, Whin Rigg. Illgill head is the highest and northern most peak.


23 Seathwaite Fell 601m

Seathwaite Fell is the 23rd highest peak in the southern fells and the 130th highest in all the Lake District wainwrights. Seathwaite fell is located right above Seathwaite it is the gateway to the surrounding fells including the Scafell massif and Great Gable to the west.
24 Rosthwaite Fell 551m

Rosthwaite Fell is the 24th highest fell in the southern wainrights and the 130th highest of all the wainwrights. Rosthwaite fell also known as Bessyboot is located above Rosthwaite on a ridge that connects onto the wainwright Glaramara and Allen crags, these 3 wainwrights are usually completed in the same walk.


25 Hard Knott 549m

Hard Knott is the 25th highest of all the southern fells and the 150th highest of all the wainwrights. Hard Knott is located a very short walk away from the hard knott pass a notoriously windy road in Eskdale. Hard Knott can be done with the wainwrights Harter Fell and Green Crag.
26 Whin Rigg 537m

Whin Rigg is the 26th highest wainwright in the southern fells and the 156th highest of all the wainwrights in the Lake District. Whin Rigg is located on the south eastern screes of Wast water along a ridge. This ridge holds two wainwrights, Whin Rigg and Illgill Head, Whin Rigg is the smaller of the two.


27 Green Crag 489m

Green Crag is the 27th highest of the southern wainwrights and the 176th highest of all the Lake District Wainwrights. Green Crag is one of the most secluded wainwirghts in the southern fells located inbetween Eskdale and the Duddon valley.
28 Lingmoor Fell 469m

Lingmoor Fell is the 28th highest of the southern fells and the 184th highest of all the the Lake District wainwrights. Lingmoor Fell is located inbetween the Great Langdale and Little Langdale valleys. The Lingmoor fell summit has astonishing 360 views of the surrounding higher mountains the most iconic view being that of the Langdale Pikes.


29 Black Fell 323m

Black Fell is the 29th highest of all the southern fells and the 212th highest wainwright making it one of the smallest wainwrights of the 214. Black Fell is nestled in between Coniston and Hawkshead. It is usually hiked on its own however it can be done with the smallest of the southern fells, Holme Fell.
30 Holme Fell 317m

Holme Fell is the smallest of the southern fells and the second smallest wainwright ranked 213th in height. Holme Fell is located in between Coniston and Little Langdale. Holme fell is an isolated wainwright with the towering Coniston fells surrounding this tiny peak. Although isolated Holme fell can be summited in the same walk with its small neighbour, Black Fell to the east.
